Conway Medical Center
Childbirth Class - Monday Nights: The Birthplace at Conway Medical Center will offer a childbirth class on Monday nights in from 7 pm till 9 pm. Classes are held at Conway Medical Center in the Auditorium of the Administrative Services Building and the fee is $50 which includes a snack each night. Registration is required. Call 843.347.8108 to register for the class. Bring a blanket and two pillows on the 3rd Monday night.
Birth Place Tours: The Birth Place offers tours every Sunday at 2 pm. If you are interested call 843-347-8108
Breastfeeding Class: The Birthplace at Conway Medical Center offers free breastfeeding classes for expectant or new moms. Registration is required. Call 843.347.8108 to register for an upcoming class. These classes are normally held on the first Tuesday of each month in Private Dining Room #1. www.conwaymedicalcenter.com
Loris Hospital Childbirth Education Classes are held on the 2nd Saturday of every other month from 9am-1pm at the Center for Health & Fitness in Loris. To sign up for this class, call 716-7290. Our Childbirth Education Class is designed to help you understand the process of labor and delivery and to answer questions about the birth of your child. The all-day class will include interactive sessions, empathy belly exercises for your support person and a tour of the labor and delivery suites at Loris Community Hospital. Lunch will be provided. Grand Strand Regional Medical Center Prepared Childbirth Class: This series of classes provides instruction in the birthing process, breathing and relaxation techniques, physical conditioning and coaching skills. Choice of three-week course (two-hour sessions) Monday evenings (7 - 9 pm) or a comprehensive six-hour Saturday class (9am - 3 pm), both taught at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in the first floor classroom. Fee: $50 per couple.
Breast-Feeding Class: This two-hour class provides instruction in the art of breast-feeding as a positive experience. Proper breast-feeding techniques and the role of the support person are discussed. Meets one Saturday (1:30 - 3:30 pm) each month at HealthFinders, Coastal Grand Mall. Free.
Infant Care Class: Basic guidelines and hands-on experience of newborn care are provided in this two-hour class. The emphasis is on confidence as the newborns primary caretaker. Meets one Saturday (10:30am - 12:30 pm) each month at HealthFinders, Coastal Grand Mall. Free.
OB Tours: Our maternity tour is designed to acquaint expectant parents with the services and philosophy of our obstetrics program. The tour includes a visit to the Maternity Center, including the birthing rooms, and a discussion of general information regarding your OB stay at Grand Strand Regional. Tours are offered during the Prepared Childbirth courses, or upon request (9 am - 3 pm, Monday through Friday only). Free. Please call 692-BABY to schedule a tour.
Infant Child CPR: This class is designed to prepare parents and other caretakers to respond appropriately in an emergency. Instruction in proper administration of CPR and first aid for choking infants and children is taught. Offered one Saturday of each month (1 - 4 pm) at HealthFinders, Coastal Grand Mall. Fee: $15.
Sibling Preparation: This two-hour class is designed to help children ages 2-10 prepare for the new babys arrival. The class teaches brothers and sisters about their involvement in the birthing experience and preparation for the baby’s homecoming. A tour of the OB unit and nursery is included. One parent must accompany the child. Offered one Saturday (10 - 11:30am) each month at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Free. The 24th Annual Conway Main Street Rivertown Music & Arts Festival, presented by BlueCross BlueShield, on May 1, 2010 is packed with great music, art and an antique car show from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. in historic downtown Conway, SC. At this annual event, local bands provide music ranging from jazz to big band to rock and roll. The music begins at in the morning and continues all day until festival close at 8:00 p.m. Festival-goers are encouraged to bring a chair to enjoy the musical performances on the outdoor stage.
